FARGO — NDSU football is five days away from it's season opener against Drake, but head coach Matt Entz isn't ready to name any starters at key positions just yet.
With veteran Jackson Hankey graduating, the middle linebacker position is one that has been up for grabs throughout fall camp.
Nick Kubitz and Luke Weerts have been competing for the starting job throughout the past three weeks, but that still wasn't enough time to separate the juniors.
"You'll see both players get opportunities," said Entz. "I can imagine their rep count will be very similar to each other. We have two young men that have really grasped that position," the head coach added.
NDSU's season opener is against Drake at 2:30 PM on Saturday, September 3. WDAY's coverage begins with Bison Gameday at 10 AM. Game coverage starts at 2:20 PM.

UND football is prepping to face Nebraska, it's first Big Ten opponent, in more than half a century this Saturday. It's a big test out of the gate for North Dakota as the Fighting Hawks are looking for it's second win over an FBS opponent.
"The message to the team is control what we can control and that's how we prepare for the game," said UND head coach Bubba Schweigert. "It's a new group. We're looking forward to and excited about this opportunity."
UND and Nebraska kick off Saturday, September 3 at 2:30 PM on Big Ten Network.
