Kevin Jackson wasn't under the football recruiting radar last year. He wasn't even on it.

But North Dakota State saw enough of the 6-foot-1, 181-pound safety this year to offer him a scholarship. Jackson, from Kentwood, Mich., accepted on Tuesday and verbally committed to the Bison.

Jackson is more known in Michigan as one of the state's top sprinters. That was why he didn't play football as a junior.
