North Dakota State and South Dakota State, two schools that made the Division I move together, reached a similar milestone Monday. Both reached their highest Division I-AA football ranking.
NDSU moved up one spot to No. 5 in The Sports Network poll after defeating Southern Utah 31-7.
The Jackrabbits, meanwhile, got in the poll for the first time at No. 24 after a 22-21 win over California Davis.
"I think it's a pat on the back for the guys who built the foundation on what's expected at this new level," SDSU head coach John Stiegelmeier said. "This class of guys has taken it to a new level."
