Doctoral programs at North Dakota's research universities rank high nationally in the area of student support.
North Dakota State University and the University of North Dakota had programs included in a national assessment released today of 5,000 U.S. doctoral programs.
The National Research Council did an assessment of doctoral programs at 212 U.S. colleges and universities using data from the 2005-06 academic year.
NDSU and UND programs fared well in the areas of student support and outcomes.
The programs were ranked lower in the areas of research activity and diversity, however officials said improvement has been made in those areas in the past five years.
