AUSTIN, Texas - Another school-record throw by North Dakota State's Casey Orgon in the hammer thrown allowed the senior to clinch a spot Saturday in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Orgon's best toss of 216 feet, 6 inches placed fifth at the NCAA West Preliminary. The top 12 advanced to the national meet on June 6 in Eugene, Ore.
Orgon was the lone men's qualifier for the national meet.
Leslie Brost was the lone women's qualifier for NDSU. The senior was one of 11 women to clear 13 feet, 5 ¾ inches in the pole vault late Friday night.
Brost will compete in the pole vault at nationals on June 7.
