West Fargo senior Katelyn Holland called it her team's best shooting night of the season.
It would be hard to argue differently.
The No. 2-ranked Packers received contributions from almost everyone on the roster en route to a
69-41 Eastern Dakota Conference victory against Grand Forks Red River on Thursday night at the West Fargo High School gymnasium.
"I think we came out playing the way we want to play, playing our game," said Holland, who finished with a team-high 16 points. "What the girls are doing is awesome. Everyone is playing well and everyone is playing as a team. Teamwork is the key."
West Fargo (6-1, 7-0) used defensive pressure and a handful of unforced Red River mistakes to sprint out to a 33-16 halftime lead.
The Roughriders committed 15 turnovers in the first half, a figure coach Kent Ripplinger said is the goal for each game.
It wasn't a good start.
Red River (1-5, 1-4) had just two players connect on field goals in the first half. Senior guard Amanda Knudson did the bulk of the work, scoring eight points.
In contrast, seven West Fargo players contributed in the first half.
Lexi Lennon led the Packers with 10 points before halftime.
"They play hard, they get up and pressure you," Ripplinger said. "We just made some mistakes."
The Packers maintained their offensive pace in the second half with help from a host of players.
Holland drilled three 3-pointers, Danielle Nelson had six points, and Ally Krogh and Lennon had five apiece after halftime.
West Fargo guards found the open player at every turn, and that player almost always delivered with a basket.
Red River couldn't keep up.
The Packers finished just above their season average of 66.5 points a game.
"I think our seniors are leading this team and the team is having a lot of confidence," said Holland, whose team is tied with Grand Forks Central at No. 2 in the latest media poll. "Our team is clicking. Everyone works really well together, so it's started out very good."
