Jay Erickson resigned Thursday after five years as Fargo North's head boys hockey coach.
Erickson said he stepped down to spend more time with family.
"I've been coaching since 1985," said Erickson, who has three children. "... It's been a lot of hockey in 25 years. Your kids are only young once. This was my chance to see them and spend more time with them. That's where I needed to be."
North finished 6-16-1 this season.
North activities director Troy Cody said the search for a new coach will begin immediately.
