Northland Outdoors Forecast: Showers and storms on Saturday

Friday will be hot and sunny, but Saturday will bring rain and thunderstorms to parts of the region on this July weekend.

We are part of The Trust Project.

Grab the shades as you leave for the lake this weekend. The drive to your destination on Friday will be a warm one, if not a hot one! Highs will hit the 90s for the majority of the Northern Plains and parts of the Midwest. Dew points will be in the 50s and lower 60s meaning it won't be oppressive in the 'air you can wear' department.

Saturday will be our next chance of any precipitation for the region. Showers and thunderstorms look likely for central and eastern North Dakota in the morning with this wave sliding into Minnesota mid to late morning. Midday and afternoon hours will still likely hold a decent chance of precipitation for Minnesota as well. The showers and thunderstorms will move into the eastern side of the state and into Wisconsin later in the day. Check out our Futurecast outlook with the video above.

I grew up in Minnesota and my love of the outdoors lead me on a path to becoming in meteorologist. I got my Bachelor of Science in meteorology at St. Cloud State University. I started out my career as a TV meteorologist in Bismarck at KX News in 2010. I left Bismarck for Fargo in the fall of 2015 where I've been since working for WDAY as well as The Forum.
