Team weighs in 87.91 pounds of catfish to win Drayton Catfish Capital Challenge tourney
The team of Michael Johnson and Brandon Pilon landed big-fish honors in the tournament, with a 22.98-pound catfish.
DRAYTON, N.D. – The team of Dick Dolan and Chris Dolan of Grafton, N.D., and Crystal, Minn., weighed in 87.91 pounds of catfish to win the $10,000 first-place prize during the Drayton Catfish Capital Challenge Catfish Tournament held Friday, Aug. 12, and Saturday, Aug. 13, on the Red River in Drayton.
Teams could weigh in four catfish – two fish longer than 24 inches and two “slot” fish smaller than 24 inches – daily.
Rounding out the top five teams and their two-day totals were as follows:
- Second: Brian Rud and Jim Benson, 85.74 pounds.
- Third: Michael Andrews and Brandon Oby, 85.18 pounds.
- Fourth: Dave Clement and Tim Brooks, 81.12 pounds.
- Fifth: Ethan Kringlen and Cody Olson, 79.11 pounds.
The team of Michael Johnson and Brandon Pilon landed big-fish honors in the tournament, with a 22.98-pound catfish they caught on the tournament’s second day. The pair placed 30th in the tournament. Rud and Benson landed the largest “slot” fish under 24 inches with a 5.36-pound catfish they weighed in on the second day.
