COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Fargo North High School standout Kira Larson is one of 22 players from across the nation selected for the U.S. women's junior A2 volleyball team.
The A2 team, which includes players born in either 1994 or 1995, is considered the second-highest junior women's team - just below the junior national team.
Larson, who made the A2 team as a middle hitter, will be part of a tryout July 19-29 in Des Moines, Iowa, where the top 12 athletes will be picked for the national team. That team will compete in a tournament in August in Nicaragua.
Larson, who has committed to play at the University of Nebraska, will be a senior at North this fall. The 6-foot-3 Larson produced nearly 550 kills last season, the most of any Class A player in the state of North Dakota.
Larson is also an all-state basketball player and a three-time state champion in the high jump.
