FERGUS FALLS, Minn. -- Game 3 of the Section 8 championship round has been the Achilles' heal of Fergus Falls baseball coach Phil Link.
The veteran has led the Otters to the doorstep of the Class 3A Minnesota state tournament five times in the past 10 years, coming up short each time in the deciding game.
After two brilliant pitching performances and some timely hitting, Link avoided a sixth do-or-die game by sweeping Sauk Rapids 5-0 and 5-1 in the Class 3A, Section 8 championship series Tuesday afternoon at DeLagoon Park.
