BISMARCK — The North Dakota Game and Fish Department has announced a free ice fishing weekend and the upcoming start of a new registration period for watercraft.
Resident anglers have the opportunity to fish or spear without a license Dec. 28 and 29 as part of North Dakota's free ice fishing weekend. All other ice fishing regulations apply. Those interested in darkhouse spearfishing must register with the Game and Fish Department prior to participating. To register, visit gf.nd.gov.
North Dakota watercraft owners are reminded that 2020 marks the first year of a new, three-year registration period. Owners can find rates, as well as pay their registration fees, online at gf.nd.gov. A credit card is required for all fees. In addition to this three-year registration period, watercraft owners are required to pay a $15 aquatic nuisance species fee for each motorized watercraft registered in North Dakota. This fee runs concurrent with this registration period.
The 2020-22 watercraft registration cycle begins Jan. 1 and runs through Dec. 31, 2022.
