Amy Anderson of Oxbow, N.D., earned stroke-play medalist honors at the 61st U.S. Girls Junior Championship on Tuesday at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J.
Anderson, 17, shot an even-par 72 on the 6,186-yard New Course on Tuesday in damp conditions. Anderson's tee time was delayed by a half hour.
She fired a 3-under-par 69 on the 6,203-yard Old Course on Monday for a 36-hole score of 141.
Three other players were tied for second with 142s. Defending champion Alex Thompson, 14, of Coral Springs, Fla., shot a 145.
"It's a really big thing. It definitely exceeded my expectations," said Anderson, who is headed to North Dakota State next fall. "The one thing that really helped me especially today ... was my length. I'm one of the longer hitters out here and that really helped me."

Anderson earned the top seed for the 64-player match play tournament, which starts today.
The first round of match play is on the Old Course. Anderson plays Harin Lee of Bayside, N.Y., at 8:30 a.m. today. Lee shot a 157 during stroke play.
Anderson said she would like to continue to use the same mindset she used in stroke play when the event shifts to match play.
"It's hard to get in that mentality of just playing your ball," Anderson said. "A lot of times, you kind of want to play your opponent's ball for them. But you just have to concentrate on what you can do."
Anderson carded three birdies, 12 pars and three bogeys during Tuesday's round. She said her play on the greens was a key over the first 36 holes.
Anderson's goal is to reach the quarterfinals in match play.
She advanced to the round of 32 in match play at last year's U.S. Junior.
"Obviously it would be awesome to win, but I'm just taking one match at a time," Anderson said.
