Perham, Nettestad reign

FERGUS FALLS, Minn. - Perham players posted three of the top eight scores in rolling to victory at the Minnesota Class 1A, Section 6 boys golf tournament Tuesday at Pebble Lake Golf Course.

The No. 2-ranked Yellowjackets' 36-hole score of 604 was 28 better than runner-up Minnewaska.

Individually, Battle Lake senior Justin Speer - the defending state runner-up - took first with a 145. Pelican Rapids senior Lindsey Nettestad won the girls division by 10 strokes at 170.

Also, Moorhead Park Christian senior Billy Hall became the school's first boys state-tournament qualifier in any sport. He finished at 152.

Team champions and the top five individuals move on to the state tournament June 8-9 at Izaty's Yacht and Golf Club in Onamia.
