CHARDON, Ohio - Fargo's Josh Persons helped the University of Minnesota men's golf team tie for sixth place after the first round of the NCAA Central Regional on Thursday at Sand Ridge Golf Club.
The Gophers are at 291, 11 shots behind leader Oklahoma State with two rounds to play.
Persons shot a 5-over 76, tying for 76th out of 140 players.
Fargo South graduate Kane Hanson, the first Drake University player to qualify for the event since 1998, shot a 73. He's tied for 34th, six shots off the lead.
