FARGO — The annual Essentia Health Fargo Marathon concluded Saturday, May 21, after a weeks worth of events, ranging from the "Furgo Dog Run" to the Saturday's full marathon.
Sam Westerberg from Minneapolis won the men's full marathon covering the 26.2-mile course in 2 hours, 29 minutes, 50 seconds for his first marathon win.
"It was relieving and exciting and just seeing the dome as I came around was so awesome," Westerberg said after the race.
Karen Bertasso-Hughes of Selkirk, N.Y., won the women't full marathon in 2 hours, 47 minutes, 6 seconds.
"The course itself was great," Bertasso-Hughes said. "Everyone was super supportive. So just being out there in the lead and having everyone cheer was pretty special."
