Three Minnesota State University Moorhead football players are under investigation for their role in a fight Saturday night on the Otter Tail River near Detroit Lakes, Minn.
Another man was sent to the hospital with injuries that included multiple gashes to his head and face as well as a split ear, according to the man who reported the fight.
The Becker County Sheriff's Department dispatched two officers at 8:23 p.m. to Charlie's Tubing along Minnesota Highway 34, where the incident was called in.
"They are people of interest involved in the case," Becker County Sheriff Tim Gordon said of the MSUM athletes. "It may have been a multiple assault type of thing."
The Forum is not naming the individuals because they have not been arrested or charged.

MSUM head football coach Damon Tomeo said he will not comment until he has more information.
Tomeo said the players have told him they were at the Otter Tail River on Saturday, but were not involved in the incident.
"At this time we know that all three were there at the time of the altercation," Gordon said.
