JAMESTOWN — Elias Harris pitched a workmanlike seven innings and Fargo Shanley put on an impressive opening-day display in a 4-1 win over West top seed Bismarck Century in the Class A state tournament quarterfinals on Thursday at Jack Brown Stadium.
Harris went the distance, allowing just a first-inning run on five hits. He walked three and struck out five.
Shanley's Josh Biver was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs and Jordan Leininger was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs.
Tommy Simon had two hits, Landon Meier doubles and Sam Ovsak singled.
Shanley, the East's No. 4 seed, plays West No. 3 seed Dickinson in the championship semifinals at 4:30 p.m. Friday, June 3, at Jack Brown Stadium.
