JAMESTOWN — Two Jamestown pitchers tamed West Fargo's offense for the most part and the Blue Jays defeated the Packers 4-2 on Thursday in the Class B state quarterfinals at Trapper Field.
Jamestown's Katie Falk started and allowed two runs on two hits while striking out four in 4-2/3 innings. Reliever Makenna Nold allowed just three hits and struck out five in 2-1/2 innings.
The Blue Jays broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the fourth inning and added another in the fifth.
The Packers scored twice in the fifth and two runners reach in the sixth and had two on in the seventh. But both times Nold recorded strikeouts to end the inning and then the game.
Jamestown's Ella Falk had two hits, including a home run, and drove in two runs. Nold also hit a solo homer.
