Fargo Shanley 6, 6, Fargo North 2, 3

FARGO — Fargo Shanley broke through with three runs in the top of the ninth inning and defeated Fargo North in the second game and swept a doubleheader on Thursday.

Fargo Shanley scored three runs in the fifth to break a 2-2 tie and take command of the first game.

In the first game, Cooper Mattern was 2-for-2 with a double, walked twice and drove in a run, Mitchell Runcorn had a hit and two RBI and Ben Ostlie had two hits and scored twice. Isaac Emmineth got the win with three hitless innings of relief. Starter Calvin Clasen, who also doubled, gave up two unearned runs on three hits in four innings.

North’s Connor Holm had two of those three hits and Dylan Tostenson had the other and an RBI.

In the second game, Mattern and Runcorn took to the mound, with Austin Kilen, to blunt the North offense. Runcorn started and went five innings, allowing one earned run on three hits and striking out six. Mattern gave up an unearned run in three innings, and Kilen pitched the ninth to get the win.


Ostlie and Tommy Simon both had two hits, both hit triples and both drove in a run. Kilen doubled and drove in a run and Matt Hulstein had two hits.

North’s Will Bachman had two hits and drove in a run.

Shanley is 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the EDC. North is 2-5 overall and 0-3 in the EDC.

Grand Forks Red River 3, West Fargo 2

WEST FARGO — Brett Feller worked a complete game and survived a dicey seventh as Grand Forks Red River defeated the Packers on Thursday at Young Field.

Feller allowed just an unearned run on eight hits, didn’t walk anyone and struck out seven.

Red River scored twice in the first inning and made it a two-run game with another run in the fifth. West Fargo got a run back in the bottom of the fifth and put two on with two outs in the bottom of the seventh. Feller got a ground out to end the game.

Red River’s Ryan Muizelaar had three hits, including a solo homer and a double. West Fargo’s Brayden Jacobson was 3-for-4 and scored both Packers runs. Carter Birrenkott had two hits and Jaden Grefsrud singled and drove in a run.

West Fargo is 3-6 overall and 0-2 in the EDC. Red River is 1-1 both overall and in the EDC.


Perham 9, 12, Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton 2, 0

PERHAM, Minn. — Perham cruised to a doubleheader sweep over D-G-F.

In Game 1, Kaden Altobelli had one RBI for D-G-F. Perham pitcher Logan Pulju gave up only one hit and one run (unearned) with six strikeouts and five walks through 3 2/3 innings. Ben Shumansky drove in two runs to lead Perham in the opener.

Jordan Summers and McKale Pierson each had a hit for the Rebels (0-3) in the five-inning Game 2. Yellowjackets (2-0) pitcher Chas Melvin surrendered two hits with eight strikeouts and three walks through four shutout innings.

Northern Cass 4, Fargo Oak Grove 1

FARGO — Two early runs helped propel Northern Cass to a North Dakota Class B win at Tharaldson Fields.

The Jaguars jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, while adding runs in the third and sixth, to pull away from the Grovers.

Conner Asche drove in the lone run for Oak Grove in the bottom half of the first inning. Ethan Dudeck was the only other player to record a hit for the home team.

Joe Nelson’s two hits and two RBIs led Northern Cass, while Carter Osland dominated from the mound, allowing just one run off two hits through seven innings.

Central Cass 13, Fargo Oak Grove 3

FARGO — A six-run fourth inning helped Central Cass to a Class B win over Oak Grove Thursday.


Trailing 3-2 into the bottom of the fourth, the Squirrels put together a string of six runs. The road team brought home another four in the seventh inning to extend their lead.

Sam Kobbervig and Alex Everson each tallied three runs, while Everson drove in four runs. Nick Martin got the win on the mound, allowing three runs off five hits through 3 innings.
