Fargo South 4, 2, Fargo North 2, 3

FARGO — Kaden Kvidera singled in the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning of Game 2 and Fargo North salvaged a split with Fargo South in a Friday doubleheader.

Tied 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh, North’s Danny Boutain, Will Bachman and Aaron Breitbach all drew walks to start the inning. One batter later, Kvidera lined a single to right field to end the game.

North pitchers Jonah DeJong and Joseph Bjorkman teamed up for the win. DeJong started and gave up two unearned runs on one hit in three innings. Bjorkman allowed just a hit and a walk in four scoreless innings to get the win.

Kvidera was 2 for 4 and drove in two runs. Charlie Kalbrener was 2 for 3 with a double and he drove in a run.

Abram Anderson and Alex Such had South’s only hits.

In the first game, South had only three hits, but North committed six errors and all of South’s runs were unearned.

Max Kirkeby, Anthony Erickson, who doubled, and Carson Bevill had South’s hits. Anderson had two RBIs.

Bachman, Breitbach, Kvidera, Kalbrener, Brady Manly and Peter Dorsher had North’s hits, and Bjorkman had an RBI.

Bevill started and allowed two runs on four hits in 5 1/3 innings. Michael Grensteiner went 1 2/3 scoreless innings to earn the save.

North is now 12-7 overall and 5-4 in the EDC. South moved to 3-14 overall and 2-8 in the EDC.

Fargo Shanley 5, Valley City 3

FARGO — Fargo Shanley topped Valley City in a back-and-forth EDC bout.

The Deacons grabbed a 3-0 lead in the bottom of second inning. Shanley took advantage of an error to bring two runs across the plate. After a scoreless third inning, the Hi-Liners answered with three runs in the top of the fourth to knot it at 3-3.

Shanley regained the lead in the bottom of the fifth with Adam Leininger’s RBI single. The Deacons added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth.

Leininger and Tommy Simon each had two hits and an RBI to pace Shanley. Josh Biver scored twice and drove in one run.

Shanley starting pitcher Elias Harris tossed all seven innings, giving up three runs on six hits with zero walks and 11 strikeouts.

The Deacons rose to 12-5 overall and 8-2 in the EDC. Valley City fell to 6-8 overall and 4-6 in the conference.
