North-South girls hockey team peppers Minot but falls in shootout

Fargo North-South outshot Minot by a wide margin but the Majettes weathered overtime and took the shootout 1-0.

MINOT — Fargo North-South outshot Minot by a large margin but couldn't break through when needed and lost to the Majettes 3-2 in a shootout on Sunday.
North-South held a 49-13 advantage in shots. Minot's Taylyn Cope scored goals in the first period and the third, with the Spruins' Olivia Kalbus scoring on the power play at 3:18 of the third on assists from Lindsey Astrup and Madelyn Rohrich.
North-South's Anna Nelson tied the game 2-2 with a goal at 9:57 of the third on assists from Rylee Bartz and Allie Emineth.
After a scoreless overtime, Minot won the shootout 1-0. Minot goalie Julian Ackerman made 47 saves, including 11 in the overtime.
