Prep baseball: Big fifth inning propels Perham past Moorhead

Perham scored five runs in the fifth to erase a one-run deficit and the Yellowjackets add to the lead late in a win over the Spuds on Wednesday.

MOORHEAD — Perham erased a one-run deficit with a five-run fifth inning and pulled away late for a 10-4 win over Moorhead on Wednesday at Matson Field.

The Spuds led 3-2 after four innings but in the top of the fifth, a walk and a single, followed by four straight one-out singles and a sacrifice fly brought home five Yellowjackets. Perham added a run in the sixth and two more in the seventh.

Moorhead's Wyatt Tweet was 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI, Brett Letness was 2 for 4 with an RBI, Jacob Vannett singled and drove in a run and Zach Taft and Jack Teiken both singled.

Moorhead plays at Buffalo at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 26.
