Fargo Shanley 9, Moorhead 8
MOORHEAD — Fargo Shanley took down Moorhead in nine innings on Saturday in nonconference action.
The Deacons plated two runs in the top of the seventh inning to tie it at 4-4. Shanley put up four runs in the top of the eighth to go up 8-4, but the Spuds responded with four runs in the bottom half of the inning, powered by Aaron Reierson’s three-run home run.
Sam Ovsak hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth to bring home the decisive run for the Deacons.
Shanley’s Jordan Leininger finished 3 of 4 with three runs and two RBIs by way of a two-run homer. Tommy Simon was 2 of 6 with a run and two RBIs, and Jayden Ouart finished with two hits and two RBIs.
Reierson led the Spuds with two hits, two runs and three RBIs. Jack Teiken had a hit and an RBI, and Brett Letness and Carter Hinch each drove in one run.
Shanley improved to 6-2 overall. Moorhead fell to 4-4 overall.
Fargo North 5, GF Red River 3
FARGO — A three-run third inning gave Fargo North a three-run lead and the Spartans held on to hand Grand Forks Red River its first loss of the season in an EDC game Saturday.
North managed just two hits, but scored a run in the first inning on Aaron Breitbach’s RBI single. In the third, two walks and a hit-by-pitch loaded the bases. Kaden Kvidera singled in one run and two more scored on a Red River error. The Spartans added a fifth run in the sixth on a bases-loaded wild pitch.
Kvidera worked the first six innings, allowing three unearned runs on seven hits. He walked four and struck out seven. Breitbach pitched the seventh.
North improved to 6-5 overall and 2-2 in the EDC. Red River is now 6-1 overall and 2-1 in the EDC.
Devils Lake 6, 6, Fargo Davies 3, 0
DEVILS LAKE, N.D. — Devils Lake took down Fargo Davies in an EDC doubleheader with Game 2 being scored as nonconference.
Devils Lake scored five late runs to overcome a two-run deficit and down the Eagles in the first game.
Davies led 3-1 after four innings, but Devils Lake scored three in the fifth to take the lead and two more in the sixth to ice it.
Davies scored twice in the first on Jacob Beckman’s sacrifice fly and Chayse Keller’s RBI groundout. Beckman singled in a run in the third for a 3-0 lead. Beckman and Keller had the Eagles’ two hits.
Keller took the loss, despite allowing just one earned run on five hits and striking out four in 5 1/3 innings. Paul Narum pitched the sixth and struck out two. Davies committed four errors.
Wyatt Kosidowski and Narum each had a hit for the Eagles in Game 2.
Jackson Baeth drove in three runs to lead Devils Lake in the second game.
Davies fell to 0-7 overall and 0-5 in the EDC. Devils Lake improved to 4-4 overall and 1-3 in the conference.
