West Fargo places 4th in gold bracket

FARGO — West Fargo won one match and dropped two matches on Saturday to finish in fourth place in the gold bracket of the Scheels Invitational Volleyball Tournament at Fargo Davies High School.

Bismarck Century defeated West Fargo 25-23, 23-25, 15-12 in the third-place match. Nadia Chwialkowski led the Packers with 17 kills, adding 11 digs. Chloe Pfau had eight kills and Raina Chwialkowski anchored the defense with 20 digs. Aubrey Finn passed out 28 assists.

The Packers started the day with a 25-13, 25-22 sweep over Bismarck St. Mary's. Nadia Chwialkowski led West Fargo with seven kills. Finn totaled 16 assists and Raina Chwialkowski finished with a team-high nine digs. Mary Schnell added seven digs, and Alexus Olson and Pfau had four solo blocks each.

Sioux Falls Washington then tallied a 25-17, 25-10 sweep over the Packers. Nadia Chwialkowski had seven kills and six digs for West Fargo. Raina Chwialkowski led West Fargo with 11 digs and Schnell added six. Finn dished out eight assists.

Sioux Falls Washington defeated Bismarck 25-17, 25-16 in the championship match.


Davies clinches 5th place in gold bracket

FARGO — Fargo Davies came back from a set down to defeat Bismarck St. Mary's 23-25, 25-14, 16-14 in the gold bracket for fifth place in the Scheels Invitational Volleyball Tournament at Davies High School.

Against St. Mary's, Ava Wild led Davies' attack with 14 kills. Emma Lalic paced the defense with 17 digs and Taylor Safranski had a double-double with 10 digs and a team-high 13 assists. Julia Libner and Mia Miller totaled five and four blocks, respectively.

Earlier in the day, Davies defeated Fargo North 20-25, 25-20, 15-12. Camille Deringer led the Eagles against North with nine kills. Cayla Sailer followed with eight kills. Libner had three blocks, while Safranski posted a team-high 16 assists. Lalic led the way with 21 digs.

The Eagles fell to Bismarck 25-22, 25-21. Ava Wild had seven kills and three blocks for Davies. Safranski dished out nine assists and Lalic paced the defense with 15 digs.

Davies rebounded with a 20-25, 27-25, 17-15 comeback win over Sioux Falls Lincoln. Wild led the way with eight kills. Ellie Krenz and Safranski tallied 10 and nine assists, respectively, and Lalic finished with nine digs.

Sheyenne claims consolation title

FARGO — West Fargo Sheyenne won two matches on Saturday to clinch the gold bracket consolation championship in the Scheels Invitational Volleyball Tournament at Fargo Davies High School.

The Mustangs took down Fargo Shanley 25-21, 21-25, 15-12 in the consolation championship match. Earlier in the day, Sioux Falls Lincoln swept Sheyenne 25-19, 25-10, and the Mustangs cruised by Fargo North 25-11, 25-9.

Khloe Brown had a team-high 14 kills with seven blocks on the day to lead the Mustangs. Reagan Bogenreif followed with 12 kills, Kailee Waasdorp had 11 and Cally Tungseth posted 10. Three Mustangs finished with more than 20 digs, led by Waasdrop and Lydia Stevenson with 24 each. Brooke Johnson added 21 digs with a team-high 33 assists. Kennedy Colter posted a double-double with 22 assists and 11 digs with a team-best four aces. Tungseth and Brown led the Mustangs with eight and seven blocks, respectively.


South drops 3 matches

FARGO — Fargo South fell in straight sets to Jamestown, Fargo Shanley and Fargo North on Saturday in gold bracket play at Fargo Davies High School.

Jamestown downed South 25-20, 25-18. Gen Gard and Ruth Deutsch led the Bruins attack with six and five kills, respectively. Laura Green anchored the defense with 14 digs and Maddie Jackson had 13 assists.

Shanley topped South 25-15, 25-15. Gard again paced South's attack with five kills, adding 11 digs. Deutsch had three kills and Green notched seven digs. Jackson passed out 13 assists.

Against North, Deutsch had five kills and a block. Gard finished with three kills, two aces and 10 digs. Jackson led the Bruins with 14 assists and Green recorded 10 digs. Tina Henry and Brynn Nelson each added three kills.
