DAVIES SCORES WITH 15 SECONDS LEFT TO BEAT SOUTH/SHANLEY
WEST FARGO — It took until the final minute for Davies boys hockey to score the first goal of the game and beat South/Shanley. The Bruins outshot the Eagles 40-19, but South/Shanley's Jobe Freier scored on a rebound for the game-winning goal.
DAVIES PULLS AWAY FROM RED RIVER IN EDC BOYS BASKETBALL
FARGO — In a battle of the top two teams in the EDC, Mason Klabo's 30-point performance led Davies past Red River 90-68. Zach Kraft led the Roughriders with 23 in a losing effort, while Davies netted 10 three-pointers in the win.
SPUDS STARTING TO COOK AGAIN AGAINST FERGUS FALLS, 8TH WIN IN LAST 9 GAMES
MOORHEAD – Spuds boys basketball tried to bounce back against a Fergus falls team looking for two wins in a row. In the first half, Fergus Falls was down seven points, when Ryan Hirst drove and got the off hand lay-up to bring the Otters within five. Later in the first half, Rylan Larson drove and dished to Colton Hagen and he got the easy bucket to put The Spuds back up 7 points, as Moorhead won 54-40. Next up for the Spuds is Minnetonka on the road and The Otters host Hawley.
SHEYENNE HOLDS OFF HORACE IN FIRST VARSITY MEETING
WEST FARGO — Sheyenne boys basketball jumped out to a nine-point halftime lead and held on to win their first varsity matchup with Horace 65-49. Dylan Beyl led the Mustangs with 19 points and Bryce Cain picked up three blocks to help Sheyenne defensively.
WAHPETON UNABLE TO KEEP UP WITH WEST FARGO
WEST FARGO — Wahpeton boys basketball grabbed a late lead over West Fargo, but could not hold on as the Packers rallied to win 89-81. The Huskies led 66-65 midway through the second half, but Keyton McGregor drained a 22-foot jumper to put the Packers in front for good. Wahpeton's Caden Hockert notched 30 points for the Huskies.
MOORHEAD GIRLS HELP COMPLETE FERGUS FALLS SWEEP
MOORHEAD – The Fergus Falls girls tried to right the ship against a Spuds team looking for its fourth win of the season. Early in the second half, Moorhead was up 20 points, when Annie Horan fed Haley Oberg for the fast break lay-up. Moments later Horan hit a contested three pointer to make it a 22-point lead as Moorhead beat Fergus Falls 50-31. The Spuds host Buffalo next, and Fergus falls will travel to Albany.
RED RIVER ROUTS CENTRAL IN RIVALRY MATCHUP
GRAND FORKS – In a crosstown hockey rivalry, Grand Forks Central pulled away from Red River to win 4-1. The Roughriders took a 1-0 lead, but Caden Johansen found the equalizer for Central. Red River jumped right back in front when Luc Bydal found the back of the net. Red River wins easily 4-1 and will host West Fargo on January 26th. Central will try to stop the losing streak when they host Devils Lake.
SPUDS GIRL’S HOCKEY FRY DAVIES IN SHUTOUT WIN
MOORHEAD – Davies girls were on the road taking on the Spuds and it was scoreless late in the first period, but Addie Salvevold was in the right place at the right time; she flicked it in out of the scrum. Spuds got on the board first. Less than a minute later, Elle Lebahn hit a behind the back shot to score as Moorhead dominated Davies winning 6-0. Next up for the Spuds is Andover at home, and the Eagles will travel to Minot.
