BARNESVILLE SCORES 43 UNANSWERED POINTS TO ROLL PAST DETROIT LAKES
BARNESVILLE, MINN -- In a matchup never seen before on the football field, Barnesville gave itself a statement win late in the season.
The Trojans put up 43 unanswered points to blow out Detroit Lakes, 49-14. Cameron Heng led the way for Bryan Strand's group, scoring four touchdowns in the game.
Detroit Lakes jumped out to a 14-6 lead before a weather delay halted action for around 30 minutes.
Barnesville improves to 4-2 with a matchup against Staples-Motley next. The Lakers fall to 3-3 on the season, they look to rebound against Park Rapids Area next week.
ELK RIVER SNAPS MOORHEAD'S WIN STREAK IN HIGH SCORING BATTLE
MOORHEAD, MINN-- The Spuds last loss coming to Elk River in the 2019 state tournament, these teams reuniting again on Friday. Moorhead would fall in a high scoring battle, 50-46.
The Spuds capitalized off an early fumble recovery, which led to a Ben Hrdlicka touchdown. The Elks rushed for 470 yards, scored 29 points in the second half to hold off Moorhead's rally. Quarterback Gavin Quade completed 21 of 37 passes for 218 yards and three touchdowns, while Alonn Salman had 11 receptions for 119 yards and two TDs.
Moorhead drops to 4-1 and hosts Sauk Rapids next Friday.
NO. 4 D-G-F REMAINS UNBEATEN IN SHUT OUT AGAINST HAWLEY
GLYNDON, MINN-- Scoring early and often was key for fourth ranked D-G-F on Friday, as the Rebels move to 6-0 with a 21-0 win against rival, Hawley.
McKale Pierson opened the scoring for the Rebels on the first possession, followed by Logan Johnson later in the quarter.
D-G-F (6-0) hosts Fergus Falls next Friday, while Hawley (3-3) travels to Breckenridge.
SHEYENNE STORMS BACK IN SECOND HALF TO BEAT NORTH
FARGO -- Sheyenne continued its unbeaten season on Friday through adversity, surviving a strong first half from North to win 30-13.
The Spartans jumped out to a 13-7 halftime lead, highlighted by a Mason Lockwood touchdown in the 2nd quarter. The Mustangs were guided again by Josh Henricks, who rushed for 156 yards and three touchdowns.
Sheyenne remains unbeaten in 2021. Next up is a massive game, at home against Century. Sheyenne has faced the Patriots in each of the previous two Dakota Bowls.
North drops just its second game of the season, the Spartans look to bounce back against Davies.
WEST FARGO DOMINATES RED RIVER, 42-8
GRAND FORKS -- West Fargo cruises to a 42-8 win over Red River, making it four straight wins for the Packers.
Already up 14-0 in the first quarter, Packers' quarterback Peyton Jantzi found Caden Zepeda deep down the field and into the end zone to extend the lead. Parker Nelson was once again a big part of the Packers offense, recording two first half touchdowns.
West Fargo (5-2) will host Mandan next Friday, while Red River (3-4) will go on the road to Shanley.
NO. 5 SHANLEY SHUTS OUT GRAND FORKS CENTRAL
GRAND FORKS-- Fifth ranked Shanley coasts to defeat Central 68-0.
On the Deacons first drive, the ball is handed off to Aidan Devine who runs it in for the touchdown to put Shanley up 6-0. Later in the first quarter, Shanley's quarterback Bennett Burd was able to find John Gores wide open to extend the Deacons lead. Gires and Devine proved to be a lethal weapon for Shanley combining for 475-all purpose yards.
Shanley (4-3) will host West Fargo. Central (2-5) will go on the road to Valley City.
DAVIES WINS THIRD STRAIGHT GAME, CRUISING BY SOUTH
FARGO -- Davies continues to roll in the second half of the season, blowing by South 33-7.
Mason Klabo highlighted the Eagles game with a 70-yard run after replacing an injured Dylan Feldner.
Davies is 5-2 after the win, with a home game against North next. South falls to 2-5, the Bruins will host Devils Lake next week.
CENTRAL CASS DEFEATS LINTON/HMB
CENTRAL CASS-- The Squirrels pick up its seventh win after beating the Lions 34-14.
The Squirrels took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter after Brendan Maasjo connected with Owen Wiersma who was wide open and found the end zone.
Central Cass (7-1) will host Oak Grove. Linton/HMB (2-6) will look to bounce back at home against E-E-K.
