West Fargo rolls by Fargo Davies, Valley City downs Sheyenne in EDC softball semifinals
The Packers and Hi-Liners are slated to play in the Saturday championship
DEVILS LAKE, N.D. — West Fargo cruised to an 11-2 victory over Fargo Davies in the Eastern Dakota Conference softball tournament championship semifinals.
With the victory, the Packers (20-13) advanced to the EDC title game and clinched a spot in the Class A state tournament. West Fargo will play Valley City at 3 p.m. Saturday in the championship.
Valley City 11, West Fargo Sheyenne 2
DEVILS LAKE, N.D. — The Hi-Liners used five runs in the first two innings to coast past Sheyenne and advance to the Eastern Dakota Conference championship.
Erika Anderson notched four RBIs for Valley City on a pair of hits. Hailey Schaefer, Dylann Diegel, Emma Meilke and Jada Nelson each added two hits for the Hi-Liners.
Maddie Buchert and Kate Geiszler each drove in runs for the Mustangs.
Schaefer struck out eight batters in seven innings.
Valley City (15-8) will play top-seeded West Fargo Saturday in the championship game. Sheyenne (17-7) will play Fargo North in a state qualifier at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Fargo North 11, Fargo Shanley 10
DEVILS LAKE, N.D. — North edged Shanley in an EDC consolation semifinals game.
Sami Sanford went 2-for-4 with a triple, a double and three RBIs for North.
With the win, the Spartans (8-12) advanced to play West Fargo Sheyenne in a state qualifying game at 1 p.m. Saturday. Shanley ended its season with an overall record of 7-14.
Grand Forks Central 13, Fargo South 3
DEVILS LAKE, N.D. — Grand Forks Central breezed by Fargo South in six innings in an EDC consolation semifinals game.
Morgan Tebelius smacked a two-run double for the Knights.
Grand Forks Central (11-12) will play Fargo Davies in a state qualifier at 11 a.m. Saturday. South ended its season with an overall record of 6-13.
