Milwaukee completes shutout win over RedHawks

The Milkmen recorded 13 hits as the RedHawks dropped their third straight game

FARGO — A team effort led Milwaukee to a 5-0 win over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in American Association baseball Wednesday night at Newman Outdoor Field in front of 1,717 fans.

The road team scored two runs in the fourth inning off a pair of RBI singles from Jay Charleston and Logan Trowbridge, respectively. David Washington added a home run in the top half of the fifth inning to give the Milkmen a 3-0 lead.

Kevin Krause paced the RedHawks with two hits. Brent Jones (0-2) got the start on the mound for F-M, allowing five runs off 11 hits through five innings.

Charleston led Milwaukee (13-7) with three hits. Four other players registered at least two hits. Brian Johnson, Ryan Boyer, Ryan Dunne and Matthias Dietz combined for the five-hit shutout. Boyer tossed five innings, giving up one hit with a walk and five strikeouts to earn the win.

The RedHawks dropped to 12-9 overall, while the Milkmen will go for the four-game sweep at 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
