FARGO — The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks capped an epic five-run comeback with a dramatic finish Thursday night at Newman Outdoor Field.

Third baseman Leo Pina delivered a walk-off RBI single — which scored Christian Correa from second base — in the 10th inning to lift the RedHawks to a 9-8 victory over the Milwaukee Milkmen to win the decisive game 5 of the American Association baseball championship before 1,236 fans.

The RedHawks won the best-of-5 Miles Wolff Cup finals to earn their first independent league championship since 2010. F-M won its first American Association crown to go with its previous five Northern League championships. Pina was named the championship series most valuable player after the game.

“It’s not easy to win a championship in this league," said RedHawks manager Chris Coste. “To be where we are right now is hard to describe.”

"We may not have 5,000 people here, but we've got the right people every single playoff game," Coste said over the public-address system. "Wow. Awesome."
