RailCats hold off RedHawks' 9th-inning threat

Correlle Prime went 3-for-4 with two RBIs to pace the RedHawks

FARGO — Fargo-Moorhead threatened a comeback in the bottom of the ninth inning, but the Gary SouthShore RailCats held off the RedHawks for a 4-3 victory on Wednesday in American Association baseball before 2,943 fans at Newman Outdoor Field.

Gary led 4-1 entering the bottom of the ninth. F-M's John Silviano singled and advanced to second base on a balk with Dylan Kelly at the plate. Kelly then singled home Silviano to cut it to 4-2. After advancing to second on a putout, pinch runner Nick Novak scored on a Correlle Prime single to cut it to 4-3.

Manuel Boscan drew a walk to put runners on first and second, but Gary was able to get a strikeout for out No. 3 to clinch the win.

Prime went 3-for-4 with two RBIs to pace the RedHawks. Boscan added a pair of hits. F-M outhit Gary 10-7, but the RailCats capitalized off of four RedHawks errors.

F-M (28-24) sits in third place in the North Division, 4.5 games back of first-place Milwaukee (32-19).

The third and final game of the series is scheduled for 7:02 p.m. Thursday.
