Ward home run lifts RedHawks to win over Lake Country

Drew Ward's two-run homer in the sixth broke a tie and Fargo-Moorhead went on to win its second straight over the DockHounds on Sunday.

FARGO — Fargo-Moorhead's Drew Ward hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning to break a tie and the RedHawks defeated Lake Country 6-2 on Sunday before 2,157 at Newman Outdoor Field.

The teams were tied 1-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth, but the RedHawks' Manny Boscan singled to lead off and Ward followed with his 10th homer of the season. F-M added a run in the seventh and two more in the eighth.

Boscan was 3 for 4 and Nick Novak singled and drove in a run. Sam Dexter also had an RBI.

RedHawks starter Sebastian Kessay got the win, working seven innings and allowing a run on six hits. He walked two and struck out seven.

The RedHawks took two of three from the DockHounds over the weekend. They are off Monday and open a home series with Cleburne at 7:02 p.m. Tuesday.
