Renner, Kelly fall short of bids for NCAA championships

AUSTIN, Texas - North Dakota State sophomore thrower Alex Renner was two centimeters shy of advancing in the shot put at the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds track and field event Friday.

AUSTIN, Texas – North Dakota State sophomore thrower Alex Renner was two centimeters shy of advancing in the shot put at the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds track and field event Friday.
Renner threw 61 feet, 2 ¼ inches to place 14th.
NDSU senior Brett Kelly finished 21st overall in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9 minutes, 2.55 seconds. He did this despite running half the race after losing the shoe on his right foot.
Bison junior Brandt Berguis finished 25th in the hammer throw at 198-6.
NDSU junior Parker McPittrick placed 33rd in the 110 hurdles at 14.26 seconds.
Bison freshman Payton Otterdahl took 43rd in the shot put at 55-2 ¾.
