Rund, Mertens sign to play basketball at MSUM

MOORHEAD-Nathan Rund of Fergus Falls, Minn., and Jake Mertens of Devils Lake, N.D., signed national letters of intent Wednesday to play basketball at Minnesota State Moorhead.

A 6-foot-1 guard, Rund scored 1,804 career points, most in Fergus Falls school history. He is also the all-time leader in free-throw percentage and steals. He was a four-time all-conference selection. He was named to the Minnesota Class 3A All-tournament team in 2016.

A 6-foot-3 guard, Mertens will transfer to from North Dakota State, where he redshirted last season. Mertens was a three-time Class A all-state selection at Devils Lake, where he finished with 1,495 career points.
