Schalow qualifies for junior national gymnastics meet

ST. LOUIS - Emma Schalow of Fargo's American Gold Gymnastics placed fifth in the all-around competition Friday at the USA Junior Olympic Region 4 Championships.

ST. LOUIS - Emma Schalow of Fargo's American Gold Gymnastics placed fifth in the all-around competition Friday at the USA Junior Olympic Region 4 Championships.

Competing at Level 10, the highest level of competition, Schalow qualified for her first Junior Olympic Nationals to be held May 9-12 in Minneapolis.

Schalow, a junior at Fargo South High School, scored a 9.4 on vault, 9.15 on uneven bars, 9.225 on balance beam and 9.275 on floor exercise for a total score of 37.05.

"We're really excited for Emma," said American Gold competitive director Heidi Tillman. "She has put a lot of time and energy into this."
