BAKERSFIELD, Calif.-Despite going winless in California, West Fargo's Donny Schatz sits atop the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series point standings. Schatz's three wins (tied for the most this season), six top fives and seven top 10s in eight total events completed have given him a slim 34- point lead over Sheldon Haudenschild of Wooster, Ohio.

Haudenschild has been the surprise of the season. The 2017 Rookie of the Year has kept pace with Schatz, scoring three wins, most recently on Saturday night at Bakersfield Speedway. Schatz's last win came on March 1 at the Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The Outlaws series made its first swing through California in March. The series was plagued by wet, soggy conditions, which forced cancellation or postponement of five of the eight scheduled events.

The Outlaws will wrap up the western swing April 7 at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, Ariz. before a pair of events in Illinois and Indiana.
