Schmaltz named to US World Junior Championship roster

GRAND FORKS – The arm injury that kept Nick Schmaltz out for four games this season clearly did nothing to worry USA Hockey officials.
Schmaltz was named to the preliminary U.S. World Junior Championship roster on Tuesday afternoon.
The University of North Dakota freshman forward will join the squad after UND’s series at the University of Denver on Dec. 12-13. USA Hockey will hold camp from Dec. 16-19 in Boston and from Dec. 21-24 in Kingston, Ont.
The American team is expected to cut four forwards from the 17 named to the initial roster.
