EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- North Dakota State's Nate Schmidt finished first in the decathlon at the NCAA division II men's track and field championships Friday.
Schmidt tallied 7,326 points, while teammate Andrew Aakre placed third with 7,127.
The Bison qualified their 1,600-meter relay team of Luke Mosey, Marques Johnson, Terrance Wolbaum and Jared Essler. The squad finished first in the preliminaries with a 3:10.31 time.
Amanda Thieschafer finished first in the triple jump in the women's field. Thieschafer broke an NDSU record with a jump of 42-5 ¼.
