RIVERSIDE, Calif.-Katie Shoultz went 4-for-5 and tied a school record with five stolen bases as North Dakota State defeated Columbia 7-1 in the Cal Riverside Softball Classic on Sunday.
Shoultz, a junior from Muscatine, Iowa, sparked an offense that produced a season-high 16 hits. She tied the NDSU single-game stolen base record set twice previously by Bison Athletic Hall of Fame shortstop Nikki Flynn Gregg vs. North Dakota in 2000 and Edinboro, Pa. 1999.

The Bison, now 11-7, made it 2-0 in the third. Shoultz led off with a single, moved to second on a ground out, stole third and scored on Zoe Stavrou's two-out single to left.
NDSU extended the lead to 5-0 with three runs in the top of the fifth. Maddie Hansen connected for a RBI double to right center, Stephanie Soriano pushed across the second run with a ground and Madyson Camacho singled home the third.
