RICHMOND, Tex. - Fargo's David Schultz shot a 2-under 70 and is in fifth place as 36-hole U.S. Open sectional qualifying at Shadow Hawk Golf Club was postponed due to rain Tuesday.
Schultz, who recently completed his junior season at Texas Christian University, is two shots back of leaders Tom Kite and Trip Kuehne entering today's final 18 holes.
Greg Hiller of Glen Ullin, N.D., shot a 73.
Only two of the 32 players will qualify for the 104th U.S. Open June 17-20 at Shinnecock Hills in Southampton, N.Y.
In Monday sectionals, Patrick Moore, a product of Minot, N.D., shot 140 at Canoe Brook Country Club in Summit, N.J., but lost in a playoff.

Dean North of Fargo was four shots out of contention at Brookside Golf and Country Club in Columbus, Ohio, after shooting 143.
John Carlson of Bagley, Minn., failed to qualify in Midway, Pa., firing 147.
