MOORHEAD -- Moorhead senior Liana Ulness wants to be on the pitch for her last season of soccer.

A knee injury wiped that out, but she’s still at every game and practice.

"It is definitely hard, but this team is literally like my family," Ulness said. "Being there for support I know can mean so much."

She shows that perseverance and leadership off the field too. She’s a member of student council, an active member of her church, and she helps with Feed My Starving Children, a non-profit that helps send food to developing nations.

"I love helping people, it's something I love doing," she said. "It's fun to see everyone come out in the community and support people we don't even know."

A year stolen by injury is a tough pill to swallow, but Ulness hasn’t let that stop her passion of giving back to her team, her school, and her community.

"I've been in Moorhead almost my whole life," Ulness said. "We're a family."
