ROSEVILLE, Minn. — Concordia more than tripled Bethel's shots total, but the Royals escaped with a 1-0 victory over the Cobbers on Tuesday in the teams' Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer opener at Reynolds Field.
Concordia held a 15-4 shots advantage and an 8-3 edge in shots on goal. Klara Beinhorn led the way with two shots on goal. Concordia goalie Breanna Nelson tallied two saves.
Ava Johnston scored the game's lone goal for Bethel in the 31st minute on an assist from Lauren Davis. Izzy Smith made eight saves to secure the shutout.
The Cobbers (0-1) are slated to next host St. Catherine at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
