FARGO — North Dakota State belted five home runs on the day as the Bison cruised to victories of 8-1 and 11-0 over Omaha on Friday in a Summit League softball doubleheader at Tharaldson Park.

Vanessa Anderson homered in each game, including a grand slam in the first inning of Game 2. Maddie Hansen hit her team-leading 10th home run, a three-run shot, in the opener. Hansen finished Game 1 with three hits, a run and four RBIs. KK Leddy (19-7) gave up one run on one hit with a walk and seven strikeouts to pick up the win in the first game.

Anderson's four RBIs set the pace in Game 2. Cara Beatty went 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs. Paige Vargas (13-4) gave up two hits with no walks and six strikeouts in a complete-game shutout.

NDSU (35-12, 13-1 SL) and Omaha (4-39, 2-12) close out the series at 11 a.m. Saturday.
