WEST FARGO — No. 1 seed West Fargo defeated No. 8 Fargo Davies in the opening round of the North Dakota East Region tournament on Tuesday.

Tori Nichols-Kraft was 3-for-4 for the Packers with two doubles and three RBIs. Lauren Diemert went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Mariah Peters went 1-for-1 with three RBIs.

West Fargo improved to 19-5 overall. Davies dropped to 5-14.

West Fargo will play Fargo North in the championship semifinals at 4 p.m. Friday at Valley City. Davies will play Fargo Shanley in the consolation semifinals at noon Friday at Valley City.

Fargo North 9, Fargo Shanley 4

FARGO — No. 5 seed Fargo North downed No. 4 seed Shanley in the first round of the East Region tournament.

North (12-14) will play West Fargo in the championship semifinals at 4 p.m. Friday at Valley City. Shanley (8-9) will face Fargo Davies in the consolation semifinals at noon Friday at Valley City.

Valley City 12, Grand Forks Red River 2 (5 innings)

VALLEY CITY, N.D. — The No. 3 seed Valley City Hi-Liners breezed past No. 6 Grand Forks Red River in the opening round of the East Region tournament.

Valley City (15-7) is set to face West Fargo Sheyenne in the championship semifinals at 6 p.m. Friday at Valley City. Red River (6-11) will play Grand Forks Central in a consolation semifinal matchup at 2 p.m. Friday at Valley City.

West Fargo Sheyenne 10, Grand Forks Central 0 (5 innings)

WEST FARGO — No. 2 seed West Fargo Sheyenne notched a shutout win in five innings over No. 7 seed Grand Forks Central in the East Region tournament.

Emma Johnson was 3-for-3 with four RBIs for the Mustangs. Katelyn Galde went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs. Mya Lambert pitched a one-hit shutout for the victory.

Paige Erickson tallied the hit for the Knights.

Sheyenne (13-9) advances to play Valley City in the championship semifinals at 6 p.m. Friday at Valley City. Central (5-15) is slated to face Grand Forks Red River in a consolation semifinal game at 2 p.m. Friday at Valley City.
