GAINESVILLE, Fla. — North Dakota State breezed past Southeastern Louisiana 9-0, before falling to No. 8-ranked Florida 5-0 at the first day of the Florida Bubly Invitational on Friday at Kaite Seashole Pressly Stadium.
The Bison plated seven runs in the first inning against SLU (6-2), while sending 11 batters to the plate. Sam Koehn knocked home two runs with a double, and Stephanie Soriano cracked an RBI single to bring home three runs with the help of three SLU errors.
Koehn finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Soriano totaled two hits with an RBI. Paige Vargas (2-1) got the start on the mound for NDSU, tossing a one-hit shutout, while striking out three batters.
In the second game against the Gators, Rylee Trlicek went 6 1/3 innings, shutting down the Bison offense and allowing just four hits. Florida (6-1) tallied 10 hits to the Bison's five.
NDSU (2-4) plays Texas A&M at 8 a.m. and Florida at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15.
