BROOKINGS, S.D. — North Dakota State's softball team closed the regular season with losses of 2-0 and 7-5 to South Dakota State at Jackrabbit Softball Stadium.
NDSU finished the regular season 16-28 overall and 11-12 in the Summit League. SDSU (38-5, 21-1) will be the No. 1 seed in the Summit League tournament, which begins Wednesday, May 12, at Tharaldson Park at Ellig Sports Complex in Fargo.
The No. 3 seed Bison are slated to face No. 6 seed North Dakota at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
In Game 1, Madyson Camacho, Stephanie Soriano, Montana DeCamp and Sam Koehn each had a hit for the Bison. Starting pitcher Kara O'Byrne struck out eight and walked two, surrendering two runs on three hits.
Avery Wysong belted a solo home run for NDSU in Game 2. The Bison scored three runs in the fifth inning to take a 5-4 lead. Camacho hit an RBI single and Dez Cardenas beat a throw to the plate for the tying run. Camacho then scored on an infield error to put NDSU ahead. Kelsey Lenox got those three runs back for the Jackrabbits in their half of the fifth with a three-run home run.
