WEST FARGO-Brent Hovden was feeling it, as they say in basketball lingo.
"So I let it go," Hovden said, after he six 3-pointers to spark Fargo South to a 65-61 overtime win over Fargo North in Friday's North Dakota Class A, East Region boys basketball consolation-round game at Sheyenne High School.
South (6-18) is suddenly one win from a state-tournament berth. The Bruins play in a state-qualifying game Saturday.
"That's what I asked the kids after the game ... 'In January, did anybody think we would be sitting where we are at now?" said South head coach Mike Hendrickson.
Not many after South lost to North twice this season-56-38 on Jan. 15 and 86-54 on Feb. 23.

"We were ready to play this time," said Hovden, who led all scorers with 23 points.
After South trailed 47-41 late in regulation, South rallied and Hovden drained a 3-pointer with 7.7 seconds remaining to send the game into overtime. In the overtime, he drained another 3-pointer to give South a 54-49 lead-one of three five-point leads it would have in the extra session.
North (13-11) came within one point twice. But South made 11 of 12 free throws in overtime, with Bucky Skiple making all six of his free throws in the extra session.
"We had a rough season, but this feels really good," Hovden said.
