South football planning to show Shanley 'what 3A is all about'

FARGO -- The animosity will be thick in the air Friday when Shanley visits South for the first game for either team in the EDC in 2019.

For the Deacons, it's their first taste of EDC football as new members of Class 3A, and the Bruins don't plan on being gracious hosts.

"We're going to show them what 3A is about because they've made noise in 2A," said Bruins quarterback Sibomana Enock. "So we're going to show them what 3A is all about."

It's not hard to see why the all-around athlete is so confident. South has blown past it's first two opponents, beating Dickinson, 29-0 and dismantling Bismarck Legacy, 39-21.

With the return of Troy Mattern to his former stomping grounds, the emotion will be high.

"It brings back a good inner city rivalry and our kids are ready to go with game one of EDC play," said South head coach Tyler Kosel.

The focus is not just on the debuting Shanley. The Bruins believe this game could be huge for the postseason, even if it is just the third game of 2019.

"It's homecoming week, it's a must win game," Enock said. "And they're a great team coming in here and it's just going to be a battle."
