With NDSU's transition into Division I, Tim Sellnow's position as faculty athletic represenatitive may take on a more significant role. The NDSU organizational communication professor takes over for Velmer Burton, who was named chancellor at Minnesota-Crookston.
Sellnow has been on the NDSU staff since 1988. His duties include acting as a liaison between faculty, administration and athletics; assisting in the institutional certification process, administering NCAA coaches' exams regarding recruiting and compliance and participating in compliance reviews.
"Dr. Sellnow will play a significant role as the NDSU athletics department moves to NCAA Division I," school president Joseph Chapman said in a statement. "He is well known and highly regarded on this campus, a person who is committed to NDSU's future."

Special Olympics training
Special Olympics Minnesota Area Four will be holding golf and bocce training schools for those interested in coaching for area athletes.
Mentors or coaches will work with athletes once or twice a week. Special Olympics officials say mentors do not have to be a golf coach or established player, but rather a person who would like to help the Special Olympic athletes.
The golf training school will be held July 25 at the Ironman golf course in Detroit Lakes from 6 to 9 p.m. The bocce training school will be held at Moorhead's Gooseberry Park June 26
from 6 to 9 p.m.
An Area Four golf/bocce competition is scheduled for July 28 in Detroit Lakes.
