Spuds boys shut out Grand Rapids to extend winning streak

MOORHEAD — The Moorhead Spuds boys hockey team tallied a 2-0 shutout victory over Grand Rapids on Thursday night at Moorhead Sports Center.

After a scoreless first period, Cullen Gess went top shelf in the second period to give the Spuds a 1-0 lead, which would hold until the end of the frame. Max Dronen buried a rebound with 1 minute, 22 seconds left in the third to set up the final 2-0 score.

Goalie Hudson Hodges earned the shutout for Moorhead, which is ranked No. 4 in Class 2A.

The Spuds (15-3-1) have won six consecutive games and are scheduled to face Duluth East on the road at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25.
